The culmination of the Summer Stars reading adventure is always a special day here in Clonmel and this year proved to be no exception. An excited crowd gathered in the library in anticipation of collecting their medals, certificates and goody bags.
We were delighted to have Councillor Michael Murphy from Tipperary County Council on hand to award the medals and congratulate the participants. There was plenty of fun and chat as the kids and their families made there way through to receive their well-earned reward for honing their reading skills over the Summer.
Along with the kids who participated in this year’s challenge there were also friends, parents and grandparents in attendance and, as we always aim for here in Clonmel Library, everyone left with a smile on their face and a bounce in their step!
Summer Stars is part of the Right to Read National programme aimed at promoting reading and literacy development for people of all ages and backgrounds. It’s a fun way for kids to maintain their reading during the summer months and they often find themselves trying out different titles than they would usually pick and exploring new avenues of their imaginations.
For anyone who missed out on Saturday we still have a limited number of medals, certificates and goody bags left so call in asap to secure yours!
